Delta Society Weekend Pet Partner Class

Inova Fairfax Hospital Rehabilitation Center - 9:30 Am to 4:30 PM, March 1 and March 2, 2008

The Animal Assisted Care Program at the INOVA Fairfax Campus.
As much or as little time as you like. Volunteer Animal Assisted Care Teams are only asked to contribute 2 hours per week at the Inova Fairfax Campus.

People only classes are March 1st and 2nd. Do not bring your dogs. Attendance is required for both days.

Team evaluations with your dog will follow on March 15th. If interested in attending the 2-day Pet Partners Class, please call 703 776-3536 or 703 776-6080.

The Animal Assisted Care Program accomplishes the following:

• Allows patients and their significant others an opportunity to visit with an animal when hospitalized
• Utilizes animals to assist patients in achieving rehabilitation goals.
• Provides terminal or long-term patients with the comfort of visits by their own animals.
• Introduces physically-challenged patients to some of the tasks a service animal accomplishes and to agencies which provide these animals.
• Educates patients working service animals and staff in their roles and responsibilities while in the hospital.
